Monkey Munch

Ingredients:

9 cups of Life or Chex cereal  (1 small box is a little over 9 cups)
1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chipits
1 bag butterscotch chipits
¼ cup butter or margarine
½ cup peanut butter
1 tsp Vanilla
3 or 4 75g bags of walnut pieces (Peanuts can be used - Nuts are optional)
1 ½ cups powdered sugar (Icing Sugar)

Step 1:

Put the Life cereal in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
Have powdered sugar measured and set aside.
Have foil covered baking sheets ready – you will need two. (Or use foil turkey roasting pans if you don’t have actual baking pans/cookie sheets)

Step 2:

Melt chocolate, butterscotch, butter and peanut butter in a medium pot on the stove – stir constantly.

Step 3:

Add vanilla and nuts into melted mix in pot. (TIP- have nut bags cut open already so you can quickly pour into chocolate – keep stirring with one hand or it will scorch.)

Step 4:

Pour chocolate mix over the Life cereal and mix, mix, mix until cereal is evenly coated.

Step 5:

Pour powdered sugar quickly over chocolate covered cereal and stir, stir, stir.

***NOTE*** you must move quickly as chocolate mix will begin to set.

Step 6:

Pour out monkey munch onto baking sheets and put in freezer to set the chocolate.  Leave in freezer about an hour until chocolate mix completely sets before serving.

Store in freezer in large, covered containers.  i.e: Mixing bowls with lids or ice-cream tubs with lids.  Or you can store in extra large zip-lock freezer bags.
